Aegis Shoreline is a premium residential aged care community near Port Coogee Marina, built with a resort style feel across 228 beds. Ensuites in every room, a memory support wing, hydrotherapy, nurse stations and treatment rooms mean the building has to work for residents, staff and visiting clinicians at the same time.
The compliance base in aged care is much the same as any commercial project, but the priorities shift. Hardware still has to meet accessibility standards, and it also has to be easy to operate for residents with reduced strength. Doors need to close gently and predictably rather than catch or slam. Restrictors, hold open devices and carefully set closers do a lot of quiet work in a building like this.
